Settings

Let's go through them one by one:

Clicking on the “Settings” link will display a page that allows you to change/amend the !PostCalendar Global settings:

Use Defaults

Default: link, click only when necessary PostNuke has some session bugs when it comes to updating module variables... use the ‘Use Defaults’ link to reset your settings... I put that link in there after finding that PostNuke stored the module vars in the $GLOBALS array and doesn’t always update them in the database - when this occurs, the use defaults link comes in handy - you should only ever have to use it once. –Roger

Notify Admin About Event Submission/Modification?

This is one of the most oft requested features we’ve had since the start of PostCalendar. Now you have it! If you want to be notified of any event submission in your PostCalendar, select this check box and enter the email you want to be notified at in the next field.

Admin Email Address

Enter the email address you want to be notified at when an event is submitted in your PostCalendar here.

Allow submitted events to be made active instantly?

Default: No Checking this box will automatically approve events submitted by your users. This will cause them to be active and viewable immediately on your calendar. This setting only pertains to GLOBAL events. Public, Private and Show as Busy events are always approved as they are owned by the user and only viewable when that owner’s calendar is viewed.

Allow users to publish Personal Calendars?

Default: Yes This will make available the options to allow a registered user to submit Private or Public events. If this is not checked, all events will be Global by default.

Private events can only be viewed by the owner (the person submitting the event), while Public events are still private, but viewable by others only if the URL is appended with “username=person”. Let me try to explain this better:

Let’s say that a logged in user (say Mahmood with PostNuke Username = mahmood) submits a “Public” event, then he can “share” his calendar with others by sending them the following link:

http://www.postcalendar.tv/index.php?module=PostCalendar&username=mahmood“, then only “mahmood’s” events will be displayed.

Allow users to publish Global Events?

Default: No Checking this box will allow your users to submit events in the Global realm. This means that they will be viewable by ALL users browsing your site at anytime (unless specific permissions are set to block these events from certain users). This setting is best used for a site where user specific calendars are not necessary or where certain events would be better represented by being associated with the actual site they are published on. (For instance, an entry for a rock concert on a music related web site).

Show how many events on admin pages?

Default: 15 This tells PostCalendar how many events you would like to be displayed when administering events via the admin interface.

Use 24 hour time format?

Default: No Display time using hours between 0-23

Time Increment for Add (minutes 1-60)

Default: 15 This is used to build the time pulldown list on the submit event screen.

View events in a popup window?

Default: No Creates a popup window to display event details

Use international date style?

Default: No Used internally by some functions to create pulldown menus in the correct format. DDMMYYYY or MMDDYYYY, DDDMMYYYY being an international format.

Date Display Format

Default: %Y-%m-%d Default for how dates should be displayed in the templates. This can be overidden in the templates. The formatting here follows the PHP “strftime”. Please visit http://www.php.net/date for a detailed explanation of this format.

Use topics?

Default: No Use the PostNuke topics

First day of the week

Default: Sunday Day of the week to start the calendar on

Default Calendar View

Default: Month You can select whether you want the default view to be Day, Week, Month or Year here on the main !PostCalendar page.

Current day highlight color

Default: #FF0000 (red) Color to use to highlight the current day. This can be overidden in the templates. There’s a nifty feature here... rather than remembering or rummaging around for the hex color values, just click on the “pick” link and a small color chooser window will pop up allowing you to choose the color you want, the chooser will then enter the color value that you picked here.

Show hovering event text on mouseover?

Default: Yes Use OverLib to build onmouseover dHTML windows for links within the calendar. The contents of these windows is dependent on the templates.

Cache template output?

Default:Yes

Cache Lifetime (in seconds)

Default: 3600 (1 hour)

Default Template

Default: default What template to use to display the calendar. Only the default template is available currently. If you add templates, they will be shown in this pulldown list.
